Why you fail online

Increase Web Site Traffic Add comments

There is one secret to making money online that you can simple not succeeded without, unless you are really lucky. This single thing is often the difference between successful marketing campaigns and failures, the difference between if you need a lot of luck or if your success will simply come as a result of hard work done over time.

The good news is that you can learn this quite easy, and once you get into the habit it is not hard at all.

And the secret is of course testing!

Testing in a marketing sense is about trying different versions of your web pages and see which version works best, which version of your web pages makes people do as you want. Something as simple as a different headline can be the difference between an advertising campaign that makes a profit and a campaign that loses money. With the simplest type of testing a/b testing you create two versions of your web page where one element is different. Typically you vary the headline, the offer, bonuses or even the entire body. You then have to decide on the desired action of your visitors. Typically you want them to follow a link, like the download link or an order link.

Start the experiment by sending every other visitor to version a and version b of your web page, eventually you will see that for one of your versions people are responding at a higher rate. This page is now your control, your best performing page. Keep your control and discard the other version. Replace the other version with a new variation of your control.

As time goes by you will increase your conversion rate, and get more out of every visitor to your web page. Now, success is no longer a matter of luck. It’s simply a matter of following the method. You will need traffic to make profit but your main problem will eventually be to get enough targeted traffic to your web page.
